a moment whilst I do some Homer Simpson-style drooling).<\/p>\n<p>This one, with slow-cooked chicken thighs, tender baby carrots and little button mushrooms is divine.<br \/>\nThe chicken <strong>pulls apart<\/strong> beautifully, the rich sauce has a very slight <strong>lip-smacking tang<\/strong> from the hint of lemon juice and the <strong>veggies soak up that sauce<\/strong>, so \/><\/figure>\n<h3 id=\"h-ingredients-swaps\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><strong>Ingredients swaps<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I love to use chicken thighs in casseroles, as they\u2019re more tender and stand up well to slow cooking. They also shred up beautifully. However, you can swap out the chicken thighs for chicken breast, or even bone-in chicken pieces.<\/li>\n<li>Add in extra veggies \u2013 such as baby potatoes, leeks, shallots or cubes of butternut squash.<\/li>\n<li>Add crispy bacon or pancetta at the end of cooking for am extra hit of flavour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"h-how-to-make-this-chicken-stew\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">\ud83d\udd2a <strong>How to make this chicken stew<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-primary-color has-text-color\"><em> ***Full recipe with detailed steps in the recipe card at the end of this post***<\/em><\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Brown the chicken<\/strong> in a pan with a little oil and then transfer to the slow cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Saute onions in a little butter in the same pan you cooked the chicken, then stir in garlic.<\/li>\n<li>Add in the all purpose flour, salt, pepper, thyme and celery salt. Cook for 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add <strong>chicken stock<\/strong> (chicken broth) and lemon juice.<\/li>\n<li>Stir and bring to the boil.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pour into the slow cooker<\/strong> over the top of the chicken.<\/li>\n<li>Add mushrooms, carrots and celery to the slow cooker and stir.<\/li>\n<li>Place the lid on and <strong>cook<\/strong> on a low heat for 5-6 hours or a high heat for
