Air Fryer Chicken Wings

This is my version of air fryer chicken wings. They come out golden, crispy, and super juicy on the inside. Perfectly seasoned, they make a great weeknight dinner or appetizer for game day!

About This Recipe

Some days, I feel too lazy to cook, but I’m also too tired to leave the house. On those days, I turn to extremely simple recipes – ones that require minimal ingredients, use minimal dishes, and can be done quickly. Since I got my air fryer, these air-fried chicken wings have been my go-to!

They are CRISPY, JUICY, and SO FLAVORFUL. All you need is one bowl and about 25 minutes. Truly one of the best meals to make on a busy weeknight. Here’s how I do it:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. This takes around 2-3 minutes.
  2. Place them in a bowl, add olive oil and spices, and toss to coat evenly (1 minute).
  3. Coat with cornstarch and flour, and toss again (1 minute).
  4. Arrange the wings in the air-fryer basket and cook for 8 minutes per side.

They come out beautifully crispy and golden brown. When my wife came home from work, she actually thought I had deep-fried these!

I love to serve them with some simple chopped vegetables, like carrots or celery – the extra freshness balances with the wings very well. If I’m feeling extra hungry, I’ll make some rice too. But since it’s currently Spring, I served these with a side of asparagus.

Key Ingredients

ingredients prepped in bowls.

Chicken wings: I prefer using “split” chicken wings (split into drumettes and flats) because they’re easier to arrange in the basket. For this recipe, I used about 1 pound, which is the most that my air fryer can fit in a single layer.

Olive oil: Helps the spices stick to the chicken.

Seasonings: Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika.

Flour & cornstarch: These form the crispy coating on the outside. I like using a combination of both flour and cornstarch. Flour helps them develop a better color, and cornstarch makes them extra crispy.
