Yes, air-fried hard-boiled eggs are a thing—an easy, no-mess, no-fuss, no-water-steaming kitchen thing! If you love deviled eggs and egg salad and you have an air fryer, this is going to be a game changer for you!
I also have recipes for Instant Pot hard boiled eggs and perfect hardboiled eggs on the stove if you need those, but let me tell you, if you are a hardboiled egg lover, you might just want to get an air fryer just to do eggs in. This goes really well with my Air Fryer Bacon too! It’s like a whole breakfast in the air fryer!

Air Fryer Eggs
This recipe came about thanks to my Uncle Bob. He called me this past Sunday after reading my air fryer grilled cheese post wanting to know which air fryer model I had – as my air fryer has a nice big basket on it. He’s into all thing air fryer these past weeks after my cousin received an air fryer for Christmas – there’s nothing Uncle Bob loves more than a new appliance to play with. And now he wants another bigger one for steaks. (I’ll get back to you on how steaks do in it, I am also intrigued.)
So, Uncle Bob did eggs. In the air fryer. AND I AM HERE FOR IT let me tell you. You’ve all read how eggs are the bane of my existence in my hard-boiled eggs post and my my Instant Pot eggs post. I hate the boiling, spattering water, the steam and the boiling water danger itself.
These are a game changer, folks.
FYI my air fryer is a 6 quart Gourmia, and I find the basket size and shape is perfect.

How to Make Hardboiled Eggs in the Air Fryer
It doesn’t get easier than this folks.
-
- Preheat your air fryer at 250°F for 2-3 minutes if needed. Some models don’t need preheating, you’ll have to check your manual.
- Place 6-8 eggs into your air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Place the basket into the air fryer.
- Cook at 250°F for desired amount of time, from 16-17 minutes. (see my timing test results below.)
- Once the eggs are cooked, remove them and place them into a bowl of ice water to cool.
- Once you can safely touch the eggs, crack them and peel them.
- Store in a closed container in the fridge for 3-4 days before the quality starts to deteriorate.
Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs Cooking Times
Of course, I had to experiment with the eggs. I did them for 15,16,17 and 18 minutes to see what they look like inside and how they peeled.
-
- 15 minutes- harder to peel. Center is softer, right between hard and soft boiled.
- 16 minutes – peeled perfectly. Center is pretty cooked.
- 17 minutes – peeled perfectly. Center is perfect for egg salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, etc.
- 18 minutes – harder to peel. White is as hard as rocks. Bet the egg would bounce but didn’t try it. (I regret that I didn’t.) Center is dry, but not grey.
Now, you are going to have to experiment with your own air fryer to see what timing is the best for you. Do ONE egg and see. If this is something that you are going to do on a regular basis, then take this recipe and adjust it to your altitude (high altitude affects all cooking times), your air fryer model and your personal preferences.
Mine is officially 17 minutes for my perfect hard boiled egg. Yours might be different! Test and see!
The best part of these eggs is how easy they peel! Only the 15 minute egg gave me a hard time. Next up, mastering the perfect air fryer soft boiled egg!
