Ingredients
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil or cooking spray
Instructions
- Slice the onion very thinly and separate the rings.
- In a bowl, combine flour, salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
- Toss the onions in the flour mixture until lightly coated. Shake off excess flour.
- Lightly spray or toss the onions with oil.
- Place them in the air fryer basket in a thin, even layer. Don’t overcrowd.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–12 minutes, shaking every 3–4 minutes.
- Continue cooking until golden brown and crispy. Watch closely during the final few minutes.
- Let them cool for 2–3 minutes—they’ll crisp up even more.

- Slice the onions as evenly and thinly as possible.
- Cook in batches if necessary.
- Don’t skip shaking the basket.
- For very thin onions, start checking around 6–7 minutes because they can burn quickly.
