🍞 Air Fryer Bread
Fresh homemade bread in the air fryer is soft on the inside with a beautifully golden crust. It’s perfect for sandwiches, toast, or serving alongside soups and stews.
Ingredients
- 2½ cups (315g) all-purpose or bread flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm water (105–110°F / 40–43°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast.
- Add the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf or oval that fits comfortably in your air fryer basket.
- Line the basket with parchment paper and place the dough inside. Cover loosely and let it rise again for 20–30 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C).
- Lightly brush the top of the dough with water or milk. Optional: score the top with a sharp knife.
- Air fry for 20–25 minutes, until the loaf is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil for the last 5–10 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Optional Variations
- 🧄 Garlic Herb: Mix 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning into the dough.
- 🧀 Cheesy Bread: Fold in ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella.
- 🌿 Rosemary Bread: Add 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary.
- 🌾 Whole Wheat: Replace up to half the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
Tips
- Use an instant-read thermometer if available—the center should reach 190–200°F (88–93°C) when fully baked.
- Make sure the loaf fits with at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space around it for proper air circulation.
- Baking times may vary depending on your air fryer model and loaf size.
